Creating a Bootable CD
Software required to write the Image file to CDR
- Easy Cd Creator 3+ visit http://www.adaptec.com
- Nero 3+ visit http://www.ahead.de
Procedure 1: Using Adaptec Easy CD Creator
- Insert a bootable floppy disk into your floppy drive
- Select "CD layout Properties" from the "File" menu
when you run Easy CD Creator
- Click the "General" tab
- In the "Volume Label" Box, type the name of your new CDR
- Click the "Data Settings" tab
- Select "ISO 9600" from the "File system" drop down
list.
- Click "Bootable CD_ROM" (easy cd creator now reads the info.
from drive a:)
- Add (drag) the files that you want on the CD.
- Select "Create CD" from the File menu (Easy CD Creator now
writes the CD)
Procedure 2: Using Nero
- Insert a bootable floppy disk into your floppy drive
- Select the "CD-ROM (BOOT)" icon from the "New
Compilation" dialog when You run Nero
- Click the "Boot" tab
- In 'Source of the boot data', Select "A:\" from the drop down list
- Click "Enable expert settings (for advanced users)"
- In "Kind of emulation" dialog drop down list select
"Floppy Emulation 1.44Mb"
- Click the "Label" tab
- In the Volume Label Box, type the name of your new CD
- Click "New"
- From the "File Browser" window, select & (drag) the files
that you want on the CD.
- Select "Write CD..." from the File menu
- Click "Write" (Nero now writes the CD)
When finished burning the CD:
- In the bios settings, select the boot sequence that shows CD-ROM as the
first boot device.
- At the command prompt, type the drive letter that your cd-writer occupies
under Windows (ie. F:) The CD will contain that drive letter, and Windows
setup files.
