Repair Windows XP Installation

There are many reasons why Windows will not start. One of the most common is a corrupt (or accidentally deleted) system file.

To repair your Windows installation:

• Start your PC with the Windows XP CD in the CD ROM drive (ensure that the boot sequence in the bios has CD before IDE).
• Strike a key when presented with "Hit any key to boot from CD"
• Select 'To install Windows, press 'ENTER' ....

You will see:

To repair the selected Windows XP installation, Press 'R'

Select the appropriate line and press 'R'
